Q.

How do I dispose of Biomatrix Gold?
A.

a.

b.

c.
Biomatrix Gold can be disposed of in several ways, either by:

Incineration as a solid fuel BTU enhancer. 9500 BTU's per lb without hydrocarbons and approximately 17000 per lb with hydrocarbons, reducing down to 2% inert ash.

Biomatrix Gold can be blended with the oil & soil on site locking up the spill and then bio- remediated using the inherent humic acid and accelerated with added bacteria & nutrients.

Biomatrix Gold can be land farmed using standard remediation protocols.

2.
Q.
Can Biomatrix Gold can be land filled?
A.
Biomatrix Gold is pure gold Canadian Peat Moss. Approved disposal is determined by what is encapsulated in the product, If land fill disposal is an option, you will be disposing of far less material than with conventional products, saving hundreds of dollars.

3.
Q.
How Long will Biomatrix Gold float on water?
A.
Biomatrix gold has been wave tested and will float without hydrocarbons for a period of 72 hrs or more. The ability to remain afloat for a long period is an affirmation of the quality and concentration of barrel cells-now filled with oxygen, proving its superiority.

Q.
What is the difference between Horticultural peat & Heat activated peat?
A.
Horticultural peat is harvested in several grades; grower's grade, course grade and blends of the above depending on application such as: seed germination, potting soil mix, soil blending etc. The moisture content would be in a range of 30%-35% and in a hydrophilic state.(Holding water) Heat activated sphagnum is harvested in the same way as horticultural peat. The difference is that Biomatrix Gold is a selected grade 1 known as "gold" in the Industry, coming from the very top of the bog and at the optimal level of biodegradation with the natural cells at maximum absorptive capacity. This material is then screened and processed through our proprietary heat activation process. This process removes approximately 90% of the moisture and leaves behind the natural properties required for bioremediation, namely humic acid. In this state the sphagnum is hydrophobic absorbing and encapsulating all derivatives of crude oil & repelling water.

Q.
What is the difference between a absorbent & adsorbent?
A.
An adsorbent is a material that holds hydrocarbons to it's surface by surface tension such as clay, polypropylene or saw dust, the hydrocarbon leeches of the surface with handling or transporting creating further contamination.
An absorbent (dictionary abbreviation to "encapsulate or enclose" does exactly what it says. Biomatrix Gold (heat activated sphagnum) will encapsulate hydrocarbons on contact with its natural capillary characteristics. The cells act as a one way valve and require up to 50lbs per square inch pressure to release the hydrocarbons in other words "non leeching"

Q.
Will Biomatrix Gold bio-remediate?
A.
Biomatrix Gold is inert and will cause no negative reaction with hydrocarbons. The unique Humic Acid Catalyst aids the bio-degrading of the oils encapsulated within the Host (Biomatrix Gold) bio-remediates, but does not degrade- for a period of at least fifteen years- which is more than enough time for the hydrocarbons to break down to water and carbon dioxide.

7.
Q.
How is Biomatrix Gold packaged?
A.
From our factory Biomatrix Gold is supplied in double compressed bags to minimize shipping costs 3.8 & 1 cube bags are the standard sizing with a 55 cubic ft available for spill clean up. In addition our distributors can supply spill kits in standard and custom, plus a range of pads, socks and booms.

8.
Q.
Will biomatrix Gold pick up grease or sludge?
A.
The answer is yes. Higher viscosity products do not free-flow, but Biomatrix Gold blended in a mechanical devise such as a concrete mixer will reduce the grease to a completely dry substance.

9.
Q.
Why is Biomatrix Gold a superior product?
A.
Biomatrix Gold is harvested from the highest quality grade 1 sphagnum growing naturally in the wetlands of Quebec. This species of sphagnum is well known in the Industry for its large fiber size ensuring maximum cell capacity per given weight, which has a direct bearing on absorption. We also use a proprietary screening and heat activation process which ensures a debris free product, the preservation of the barrel cells and only pure product in the bag. Other roast drying processes over heat the sphagnum and carbonize the smaller cells thereby reducing absorption capacity and residual of humic acid, rather like over burning toast!

Q.
What is the shelf life of Biomatrix Gold?
A.
Biomatrix Gold will last for many years and still have the same properties & characteristics, provided it is stored in a dry condition. And being double compressed it requires less space and can be stacked like blocks on pallets. It will not be effected by high humidity conditions.

Q.
Who uses Biomatrix Gold?

A.
Elevator companies, Aviation, Marine, Armed forces, Construction, Machine and vehicle rental, Factories, Power Generators, Oil Companies, Chemical manufacturers, Hazmat companies, Spill Response, Bio-remediation specialists. The list is endless.
